October Fun

October is one of my favorite months of the year because it is the start of the true fall season. From leaves changing colors, to temperatures getting cooler (not always a good thing), to Halloween, it is one of the best months of the year. Looking back at this month, we started early off with Fall Break which allowed most of us to go home, but even if we could not it still gave us some time just to relax with a couple of days off.

Once we got back from Fall Break started Homecoming week! There were many activities throughout the week to celebrate such as Kick-off cookouts, blood drives, the voting of King and Queen, a parade  and Pep Rally and of course the football game against Wisconsin. It is a great week to really get involved and show your school spirit!

The following weekend my friends and I went to Exploration Acres. This is a place in Lafayette that you can pick pumpkins, go through different mazes, go on hay rides and much more. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely be going back next October! That same day I also went down to Wabash College in Crawfordsville for a Gym Class Heroes concert. It was my first time going there, but I hear they have hosted some other really good concerts and tickets are a pretty reasonable price too!

Halloween weekend came next (well the weekend before Halloween)! This was exciting for me because I am a member of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters (BBBS) club and we host our annual Halloween party for kids on this weekend. We host it at a local house nearby that has a barn which is perfect and the kids love it. The party consisted of games and prizes, a bonfire to roast marshmallows and stay warm, a scary hayride, and the Purdue juggling team even came to put on a show for the kids!

So as you can see from my month’s activities there are so many different ways to get involved and have fun not only on campus, but in the general Lafayette area! But now that October is ending, temperature will get even more cold so stay warm!
