With the spring semester comes much joy; the weather changes to something more cheerful and manageable, campus seems to brighten up a bit, but the spring semester also has its share of hectic demands…APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND INTERNSHIPS! As my senior year quickly approaches, this summer will be my last summer of undergrad and I want to have the perfect opportunities and experiences to excel in my professional life soon to come. So this month consists of applications and interviews. I have already received an interview for the NACUFS internship, a paid national food service internship where students intern at other school campuses over the summer and learn the food service aspect of nutrition and the ins and outs of running a food business. I have also inquired about local opportunities, such as Purdue’s PAL program, the Tippecanoe WIC office and Action for Healthy Kids. In anticipation of applying for official dietetics supervisory practice in the fall, I want to make sure that I have an internship that exemplifies my ability and skill in the field I want to go into and at the same time, I am applying for scholarships to keep my loan debt at a minimum. I am very excited to see the results of my search and I anticipate a busy but meaningful summer.
