College Mentors for Kids at Purdue University

College MentorsCollege Mentors for Kids is a great volunteer group on campus that I’m really thankful to be a part of. We pair up with at-risk kids from the Lafayette area and mentor them once a week for the entire semester. The goal of the program isn’t to convince kids to go to Purdue – it’s to get them excited about learning, diversity and inclusion, and contributing to/volunteering in their community. We do activities each week to emphasize any of these areas, talk about what we learned, and have general bonding time. My buddy this semester is a sweet girl (can’t give names) in 2nd grade. She wants to either be a famous singer or a veterinarian. She really brightens up my Wednesday afternoon!
